Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) comprises Auckland Council working in partnership with emergency services and other organisations to ensure the effective delivery of civil defence emergency management. AEM’s role is to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to the way significant risks and hazards are managed in the Auckland region across the four 'R's: reduction, readiness, response and recovery.

 

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

We currently have a position for a highly experienced Principal Resilience Engagement Outreach to join our team.


The key purpose of this role is to initiate, develop and influence strategic approaches to community resilience planning, outreach, and engagement in Tāmaki Makaurau. You will also coordinate reports and activity to support the Auckland Civil Defence Emergency Management Group’s Coordinating Executive Group and the Civil Defence Emergency Management Committee of Auckland Council.


As a visible leader and trusted advisor, you will build strong community-focused partnerships and stakeholder relationships to collaborate and drive increased levels of community resilience across Auckland. 

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

Your background will demonstrate significant previous experience in emergency management, community resilience programmes, community engagement or a similar field. 

 

You will be tertiary qualified in emergency management, social sciences or similar with extensive leadership, planning and project management experience, ideally within complex, multidisciplinary teams. Proven skill in project management methodologies is also highly desired. 

 

Your political acumen, expert communication skills and previous experience in reporting on policy issues will ensure committee reports are prepared to a high standard and on time. 

 

Experience working in local government or working with elected members and committee members and your ability to build strong collaborative relationships will be key here. 

 

Extensive experience working with diverse communities, agencies, and businesses to build capacity and support for shared goals as well as experience turning leading edge thinking into actionable projects and programmes, training and professional development are important for the success of this role.
