He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

This position works across Tātaki Auckland Unlimited (TAU), its venues, and ancillary storage and provides support in the protection and security of the buildings (assets), contents, occupants, and users. A security officer is responsible for ensuring that they provide excellent customer service to visitors and stakeholders to improve their experience at our venues. All TAU security activities are geared towards preparedness, readiness, and staff growth.

 

Day to day, a security officer monitors and facilitates the operational security needs of a specified area or team, as set out by the roster. The security officer is supported each shift from the communications centre by a supervisor, control officers, and patrol officers.

To be successful in this role, you will display the following:

  • Honesty and reliability
  • Focused customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work a 4-on-4 off-rotating roster.
  • A high standard of personal presentation.
  • Ability to analyse and make decisions.
  • Ability to work with others in demanding situations.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A certificate of approval (COA) is advantageous.
  • A team player who supports and works with others to achieve organisational outcomes.
  • Minimum NZQA National Certificate in Security (Level 3) or equivalent experience, but willing to complete
