There are over 4,000 local parks across the city. Our parks network is diverse and ranges from coastal and beach reserves to neighbourhood parks and bush reserves. Responding to growth is a key focus area to ensure that Council caters for the increased demand on open space.

 

He Angitūtanga: The opportunity 

 

We’re seeking a Parks Consents Planner at an intermediate level for an exciting opportunity within our team where you will use your technical and specialist knowledge to provide input into the regulatory and consenting processes. You will be based in Auckland’s CBD where you will represent the Parks and Community Facilities (P & CF) view of parks, open space, recreation and sport.

 

You will work as part of a team to deliver high quality open space outcomes within RMA processes that relate to growth and development and receive mentoring and support from senior members of staff to build your skills and confidence. 

 

This is an excellent opportunity for someone that is passionate about open space and parks and wants to take the next step in their planning career. There is opportunity to assist with assessment associated with complex resource consent applications, third party parks development processes where you can develop you stakeholder relationship skills in specialist planning input space as well as providing advice to Local Boards. 

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

You’ll bring with you a minimum of 2 years planning and resource management experience, supported by a tertiary qualification in resource consent, planning policy, parks and open space planning or in a relevant field.

 

You will have proven experience in project management disciplines, delivering results and innovation in a high public profile environment where you can also demonstrate your experience working with the Resource Management Act, Local Government Act and the Reserves Act. 

 

We value our customers and resulting from your customer focus you will have an excellent track record of customer delivery. It will be required that you have a good understanding of being Maori Responsive. Here it will also be essential that you have a positive attitude toward problem solving and motivating others.
