Manager Community Place | Te Oro Music and Arts Centre
We’re on the lookout for a community-focused leader to join Te Oro Music and Arts Centre. This is your opportunity to shape a vibrant arts and culture space where people feel welcomed, connected and supported.
As a Manager – Community Place - Arts, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of the music and arts facility, including financial oversight, kaimahi leadership, and programme development. You’ll ensure these spaces are safe, inclusive, and responsive to the unique needs of our communities. Whether facilitating programmes, mentoring staff, or working with local partners and boards, you’ll be at the heart of community-led change.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing community-led programmes and engaging under-served groups
- Supporting digital literacy, learning outcomes, and life skills in the community
- Managing staff recruitment, wellbeing, rostering, and professional development
- Overseeing health and safety, customer complaints, and escalated issues
- Partnering with local boards and iwi to ensure services reflect local needs

This is a 1-year internal secondment opportunity / 1- year external fixed term opportunity. Te Oro is currently open 6 days a week. Some late nights and weekend support may be required to support the service and programmes and events.

To guide you further we are looking for:
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and inspire
- Experience in the arts/culture/creative sector
- A strong customer service ethic and a desire to support diverse communities
- Financial and operational management experience
- Confidence in engaging with Māori communities and applying tikanga and te reo Māori

Band G $88,528 - $104,150 depending on skillset and experience
