He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

Tātaki Auckland Unlimited (TAU) is a council-controlled organisation (CCO) established with an important mandate to drive investment, supporting Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland businesses to innovate and thrive, enhancing Auckland as a culturally vibrant city, telling the Tāmaki Makaurau story, and importantly providing experiences and opportunities for all.

 

Our team of Major Event Facilitators manage and coordinate the operational and regulatory side of Auckland’s major events. We are problem solvers who provide effective advocacy, leadership and management of event operations and stakeholder relationships for major events from concept to post evaluation. Work closely with key delivery partners like the NZ Police and our Council family, supporting event organisers to enable them to deliver the best possible events in Auckland.

 

Key areas of responsibility

  • Assessment and support of operational requirements and responsibilities associated with major events.
  • Oversee risks, consents, licenses, and customer requirements
  • Advocate for event-friendly policies and process improvements
  • The development and leadership of virtual teams across Auckland Council and relevant operational stakeholders to proactively support Major Events.
  • Advocacy for major event friendly policies and infrastructure.

 

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

Your project management skills and ability to plan and organise at an operational and strategic level will be paramount. You value communication and have plenty of experience developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.


You’re a confident leader with a solid grasp of event logistics, regulations, and risk. You bring:

• Proven experience in major or large-scale event operations
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Sound judgement under pressure
• Knowledge of regulatory and consenting processes
• A customer-first mindset and passion for world-class events

 

Your events background will set you up for success as you already understand what is needed in the planning and organising stages of delivering exceptional events in Tāmaki Makaurau. You will also have an appreciation of the regulated environment and you’re attracted to the process-driven nature of this role.
