We have an exciting fixed-term parental leave cover opportunity within the Events team as an Event Organiser, delivering a diverse programme of community events across Tāmaki Makaurau. This role will commence in September 2026 and continue to August 2027.

 

The Events team within Community Wellbeing delivers a broad programme of events that bring people together, celebrate local identity and create vibrant places across Tāmaki Makaurau. From Movies in Parks and Music in Parks to community Christmas celebrations and a range of local events, our work creates opportunities for Aucklanders to connect with their communities.

 

 

 

  • Plan and deliver a diverse programme of community and public events.
  • Partner with Local Boards, stakeholders, suppliers and contractors to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Manage event budgets, procurement, contracts and project timelines.
  • Coordinate event logistics, marketing, health and safety and risk management.
  • Evaluate event outcomes and support continuous improvement across the team.

 

The role is Auckland-based with a hybrid working arrangement and regular travel throughout the region.

 

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

You're an organised and capable event professional who takes ownership of your work and delivers consistently high standards. You build productive relationships, communicate confidently with a wide range of people and are comfortable balancing competing priorities across multiple projects.

 

You'll bring:

  • Experience delivering public events end-to-end
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Sound knowledge of event health and safety, risk management and industry best practice, including the development and implementation of event management documentation.
  • Experience working alongside marketing and communications teams to support event promotion and audience engagement.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across communities, suppliers, elected members and internal teams.
  • Sound judgement, initiative and the ability to make considered decisions in live event environments.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering safe, inclusive and well-executed public events.

 

An understanding of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori would be an advantage.

 

This role includes occasional early mornings, evenings and weekends. A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence and the ability to travel independently are essential.
