Join Tātaki Auckland Unlimited’s Events team and play a key role in supporting Auckland’s vibrant events landscape. As an Event Facilitator, you’ll help enable world-class events across the region, from community celebrations to large-scale activations, by ensuring events are safe, compliant, and successful. Te mahi: The role:



As an Event Facilitator, you’ll manage and coordinate the permitting and facilitation of events, supporting community, private, and commercial organisers to deliver exceptional experiences. You’ll work collaboratively across council teams and with external stakeholders to ensure each event meets regulatory requirements and enhances Auckland’s reputation as an events city.


We work closely with communities to support and permit events that connect and strengthen our communities. We're passionate about supporting events that contribute to a sense of belonging and pride in our neighbourhoods.

You’ll also support local boards and community groups to successfully permit events on public open space by coordinating and processing event applications and funding. You'll be responsible for the full life cycle of event permits; ensuring all groups have the appropriate consents, assessing and issuing event permits and monitoring events to ensure regulatory compliance. 




Key responsibilities include:



• Managing and facilitating event permitting processes in line with statutory and regulatory requirements

• Supporting community and commercial organisers to build event delivery capability and confidence
• Liaising with local boards and community organisations to plan and deliver local event programmes
• Monitoring events for compliance and resolving any issues or environmental impacts
• Providing excellent customer service and advice to event organisers and stakeholders
• Supporting continuous improvement of facilitation and permitting processes

He kōrero mōu: About you


You’re a skilled events professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. With a strong understanding of event logistics and regulatory processes, you bring both people skills and operational know-how to ensure events run smoothly and safely.

In this dynamic and fast-paced position, you will engage regularly with both internal and external stakeholders. As such, strong relationship-building abilities and excellent communication skills are essential, supported by prior experience in relationship management. The successful candidate will demonstrate the capacity to establish rapport with diverse individuals and maintain a strong commitment to customer service. Additionally, a process-oriented, organized, and methodical approach is required, along with the ability to navigate ambiguity when necessary.

A tertiary qualification in events is preferred, as well as a minimum of three years' experience in a customer-focused role and or direct involvement in an events environment. You must hold a full and clean driver’s license. An understanding of the complexities and functions of local government would be advantageous.



You will also bring:

  • Diploma or Certificate level qualification in event management, hospitality, marketing, or a relevant field
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in events, technical logistics, or customer-focused roles
  • Experience in process-driven or regulatory positions, and ideally in local government or highly political environments
  • Full and clean driver’s licence
  • High competency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills, conflict management, and project management experience in complex organisations
