Te mahi: The role:


As Creative Producer, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering Auckland Live’s programme of live performances, activations, and experiences across Aotea Square, Te Komititanga, and other city centre sites. Reporting to the Senior Programme Lead, Public Realm Programming, you’ll identify and develop creative opportunities that bring artists, communities, and audiences together in bold and inspiring ways.

You’ll collaborate with partners across the arts sector, Mana Whenua and Mataawaka , city stakeholders, and internal teams to produce events that reflect the creativity and diversity of Tāmaki Makaurau. Balancing creative ambition with practical delivery, you’ll ensure projects are well-planned, well-produced, and leave a lasting impression on the city’s cultural landscape.

 

Key responsibilities include:


• Develop and deliver a high-impact annual calendar of live performances, activations, and events in Auckland’s key public spaces
• Scope, budget, and contract projects in alignment with Auckland Live’s strategic priorities and creative goals
• Build strong partnerships with artists, producers, Mana Whenua and Mataawaka, cultural organisations, and community groups to co-create inclusive public experiences
• Collaborate across Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, council teams, marketing, and operations to ensure seamless event delivery and audience engagement
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, maintaining accuracy in budgets, schedules, and reporting
• Support creative evaluation and impact assessment to inform future programming decisions

You’re a creative producer with a strong background in delivering live performances, activations, and public realm experiences. You bring artistic flair and operational expertise, with the ability to translate bold creative ideas into seamless, high-impact events that enliven city spaces.

Your collaborative mindset, cultural awareness, and ability to build trusted relationships across communities, artists, and stakeholders ensure your work reflects the diversity and vibrancy of Tāmaki Makaurau.

You will also bring:


• 3+ years’ experience in creative producing and programming within performing arts or public realm environments
• Proven ability to scope, budget, contract, and deliver complex events and activations
• Strong stakeholder management and partnership skills, including engagement with mana whenua and local communities
• Experience balancing creative outcomes with commercial, logistical, and operational requirements
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
• A solid understanding of te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to embedding te ao Māori and cultural diversity in your work
• A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent practical experience
