Auckland Council’s Regional Parks has a permanent opportunity for a Conservation Coordinator to join in a permanent capacity.

 

The Conservation Coordinator helps deliver regional environmental programmes by making sure conservation projects across the Regional Parks network are implemented efficiently and on time. The role supports NETR pest plant and animal control work, ecological restoration projects, and other activities that protect and improve Auckland’s natural environments

The remuneration range is between $76,160 - $107,520 depending on skillset and experience.

This role makes a real impact by helping protect and restore Auckland’s natural environments. By coordinating pest plant and animal control, and driving ecological restoration work. The Conservation Coordinator ensures conservation projects happen smoothly and on time. Their work helps native species recover and strengthens biodiversity.

 

 

Ngā kawenga matua: Key responsibilities

 

 

What you will do:

 

  • Support Regional Leads to develop clear and practical project specifications for conservation initiatives.
  • Work with Regional Leads and sector teams to develop, agree on, and deliver annual workplans that align with priorities and ecological outcomes.
  • Coordinate the services, materials, and resources needed to deliver conservation projects across the Regional Parks network.
  • Oversee and monitor the work of contractors, staff, and volunteers to ensure projects meet agreed standards and achieve expected ecological and operational results.
  • Complete all project reporting, monitoring, and compliance tasks accurately and on time.

 

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

 

We’re looking for someone who can build strong, collaborative relationships across a wide range of internal teams and external partners. You’ll have excellent time management, organisation and communication skills. The role requires an understanding of Tangata Whenua relationships, Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations, and a working knowledge of Tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori to support respectful collaboration.

 

 

What We’re Looking For:

 

  • A degree-level tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g. ecology, conservation, management).
  • 3+ years’ experience in environmental / land management or ecological restoration role.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading ecological projects, including those which have significant impact on communities.
  • Strong track record of effective project delivery, including contract supervision
  • Current and valid drivers license
