He angitūtanga: The opportunity


We're searching for an experienced communications professional to provide strategic communications advice and help tell Auckland's story to local, national and international audiences.You'll partner with business leaders, project teams and external stakeholders to deliver strategic communications advice and high-quality communications outcomes.


Your responsibilities:
 

  • Develop and deliver strategic communications, media and public relations plans that support organisational priorities and promote Tātaki Auckland Unlimited activities and Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.Create compelling communications content that engages a range of audiences.Support communications for local and global events, iconic cultural festivals and destination marketing initiativesProvide strategic communications advice to project leads, with support from your team leader where required.Identify communications risks and opportunities and provide practical advice to support successful project delivery.

 

No two days are the same at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited. You'll work across a diverse portfolio, balancing proactive communications with emerging issues while partnering with teams across the organisation.

We’re searching for a confident communications professional who thrives in dynamic, high-impact environments. You’ll bring a strategic mindset and a keen eye for detail, with a deep understanding of effective communication to ensure clarity, accuracy and impact across all channels. Your collaborative spirit helps you build and manage strong stakeholder and media relationships in diverse settings. You love Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, you’re a natural storyteller, an excellent writer and content expert. You’re a plain English pro who encourages and champions the use of Te Reo Māori. 


Skills and experience that will be highly regarded:
 


  • Around five years' communications experience in a complex organisation, public sector or agency environment. Excellent communication and written skills
  • Passionate team player who brings out the best in others
  • Naturally inquisitive and comfortable with asking the difficult questions
