He angitūtanga: The opportunity
 
Our Leisure Centres are more popular than ever, and as a team member (network support), you’ll have the opportunity to work across roles within our Leisure centres, especially as a Lifeguard and Customer Support. 

 

Lifeguards play a key part in ensuring that all customers not only have a fantastic experience but a safe one by:
 

  • Providing assistance to all pool users with quality supervision to ensure health and safety standards are upheld;
  • Providing customers and colleagues with accurate information on pool policies, Centre facilities, and aquatic safety; and
  • Supporting the delivery of Centre programmes and classes

 

By taking on additional roles such as Customer Support, you’ll have the opportunity to pick up more shifts than you would solely as a Lifeguard, so you can flex your hours up or down to suit your availability week-to-week. In doing so, you’ll be able to deliver outstanding, safe, and diverse customer experiences across our pool and leisure facilities. 

 

When joining our team as a casual team member (network support), you’ll be joining a team that’s proactive, dynamic, and contributes to our goal of enabling Aucklanders to Get Active Their Way.

Excellent communication skills, maturity, and reliability are key in this role as is being practically minded and using your initiative where required. 

 

Previous experience as a Lifeguard is advantageous, but if you’re a confident swimmer looking to upskill, we can support you with training. 

 

To excel within Customer Support, you’ll be friendly, outgoing, and committed to making a difference in our local communities. For the right candidate, there are also opportunities to work across Recreation and Fitness.

We have multiple casual opportunities across 8* of our pool and leisure centres in varying functions. Our centres are open 7 days a week so flexibility will be key, with early morning shifts from 5:00 am and late shifts up to 10:00 pm as well as weekends.
 
*Locations: Albany, Birkenhead, East Coast Bays (Browns bay), Glenfield, Stanmore Bay, Takapuna, Tepid Baths (City centre), Westwave (Henderson).

 

Please note, this role requires attendance of short, mandatory training sessions which take place from September through to October, so availability around this time is essential. If you do not hold a current PLPC lifeguard qualification you will also need to be available to attend a 3-day PLPC course provided by Council.
