He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

The Business and Process Improvement team delivers business improvement initiatives for the wider Finance Division. This is a broad role that requires a passion to work with our customers to identify, prioritise, and implement a pipeline of work across a range of finance disciplines. Reporting to the Business and Process Improvement Programme Manager, you will ensure continuous improvement initiatives are defined, designed, planned, resourced, and implemented successfully. You will drive opportunities for performance improvement and increase engagement with and delivery of continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent customer service outcomes.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with council stakeholders.
  • Integrate technology initiatives into processes to enable greater work efficiencies.
  • Provide end-to-end process documentation as required.
  • Develop accurate, standardised reporting across the unit.
  • Take direct responsibility for training, guidance, and the development of improvement.
  • Support the delivery of continuous improvement activities, working with the Business and Process Improvement Programme Manager and the Lead Team to identify opportunities for development, process improvement, and reporting enhancements.
  • Work closely with the corporate hub as part of the community of practice ‘hub and spoke’ model for business and process improvement across the enterprise.

You will have 8 years of experience leading improvement initiatives across large functional teams and hold a tertiary qualification in a related field.

 

To be successful in this role, you will also display the following:

  • Ability to report data and trends to key stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of using Agile and Lean methodologies.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing a high-performing team.
  • Experience in building a culture of collaboration, innovation, performance, and transparency.
  • Experience in achieving outcomes and results through influencing the way resources are utilised while working in a virtual team environment.
  • Good financial acumen and highly competent financial management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills: able to identify and define problems, provide resolutions, and make decisions using sound judgement, frequently in time-pressured situations.
