Infrastructure and environment jobs

Why join our Healthy waters team?

In recent years we've shifted the focus of storm water management from removing or disposing of water as fast as possible through large pipes, to recognising the value of natural freshwater systems and benefits they offer to enhance the urban environment. The assets we deliver reflect the full range of approaches more than ever and include upgrades to urban streams, development treatment ponds as well as more traditional pipeline solutions.

Our focus is on the customer and the community

We are taking the traditional government department into the modern era where customer excellence is what we do as part of our everyday service. We do this through challenging status quo and being the 'how' in designing and implementing customer-centric ideas and culture, business improvement and managing communication on behalf of our customers.

Who are we and a bit about us

We are a skilled, enthusiastic team of engineers and project managers. We work collaboratively to deliver our promises to build a stormwater network to match Tāmaki Makaurau's (Auckland) growing needs. We are a group of people who like getting things done. Yes, there's paperwork but the satisfaction will come from seeing the projects delivered and the communities benefiting from the outcome.

Jess Brooks – Intermediate Healthy Waters Specialist

As a young person I have tried other professions, but I have always been drawn to the environment and was lucky to be given an opportunity a couple of years ago in Healthy Waters.  I now am in a position of assisting in some of the most exciting projects in Council which I know will make a difference to the future of Auckland Waterways.

Cheryl Bai – Senior Healthy Waters Specialist

I work as a Hydraulic Modeller, my work involves looking at potential stormwater issues and building models that will help us to address future floodings situations before they arise. I am lucky to be in a position where I am empowered to do my job. I am planning a future for the stormwater of Auckland and the wider area.

Nick Brown – Senior Stormwater Planner Manager

The professional challenges are endless and varied and you are always trying to find solutions to problems that no one else can.  I take my role seriously as I care about the environment and the future of the Auckland Waterways.
