As kaitiaki (guardian) of facilities, we play an important role in facilitating the wider social, economic, environmental and cultural outcomes that promote the wellbeing of our communities. To help make Auckland’s great places we have a Senior Programme Manager opportunity, which will see you located in our Henderson Office in West Auckland.

As part of the Project Delivery team within Community Facilities, you will lead a portfolio of building and open space capital works and renewals projects in the Toru area of the Auckland region (Henderson Massey, Waitakere Ranges and Rodney). These projects will be delivered via council staff, contractors and consultants across programmes of assigned low to medium complexity projects, typically with project values up to $300k. When considering the project numbers, these projects can form up to 70% of the annual programme. You will be responsible for effectively managing a programme of projects delivered by contractors, - including responsibility for programme lead briefings, status reporting, issues management and regular management communications. You will employ appropriate programme and project management techniques to achieve strategic objectives, optimising common processes and decision making across projects and to deliver the outcomes in a coordinated manner.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You will have the ability to make decisions on the spot, proven communication expertise, strong collaboration skills and the ability to ‘manage’ the quality outcomes of a large portfolio of asset types, people and stakeholders. Relationship building and collaboration will be core to your success in this role. You will foster strong working relationships across a variety of areas, encouraging engagement and positively influencing all parties to ensure a successful outcome. We need a pragmatic individual with political nous who guides outcomes through influence and good communication. You will have proven relevant experience in capital works and/or renewals projects and programmes (construction/engineering/architecture) and be able to demonstrate excellent programme and project management, interpersonal and communication skills. These skills will be evident alongside solid experience in the services sector and business improvement projects within large complex environments.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

We will offer you a career enhancing opportunity, competitive salary and to be part of Auckland’s meaningful history. You will be part of a small team that is passionate about what we do. Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, you will have some flexibility with how those hours are set.

If you are high performing, passionate about Auckland and the world around you and would like the chance to facilitate making tangible and visible improvements to our environment, then join us. Apply today (telling us why you are interested in and right for this opportunity) by cover letter along with your CV. If you are an internal candidate (not a temp or contractor), please apply via the Tupu internal careers page.

Applications close Monday, 2 September 2019

Please note that we may, however, be considering applications as they are received so please do not delay in applying.

You will be required to have a valid NZ driver's licence due to the nature of the position where you will be required to regularly travel to various Community Facility sites across the Auckland region.

This role is deemed safety sensitive and in line with Auckland Council policy, you will be required to complete pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.
