Local Boards are a key part of the Auckland Council governance structure, and they play a significant role across communities with a focus on arts and culture, community services, parks and recreation, economic development, the environment, infrastructure, and place shaping activities. The Local Board Services Department provides dedicated support to Local Boards.
As a Democracy Advisor, you will support and advise the Rodney Local Board and its members in all democratic processes and provide support in meetings and workshops by advising on correct procedures and legislative time frames. You will be responsible for creating agendas, taking minutes, and managing all the resolutions from the public meetings.
The role is based mostly in Warkworth at the new Rodney Local Board Office. At times you may be required to wor from other local board offices in Orewa and working from home is also an option at times The role requires analysis and understanding of the wide-ranging content of the local board’s work programme, covering the spectrum of Auckland Council activities.

You will be self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and the ability to balance competing demands. You will have excellent process and planning skills with attention to detail, as well have political acumen, diplomacy, and good judgment. Along with these skills you will also need to have good computer skills including Microsoft Office. You are confident when it comes to communicating and collaborating with a wide range of people.
