Eke Panuku’s Design team have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Urban Designer - Architect to join our Design & Place Directorate at Eke Panuku Development Auckland. Our mission is to rejuvenate urban Auckland – from small projects that refresh a site or building, to major transformations of town centres or neighbourhoods. We use under-performing land and buildings that Auckland Council owns, attract private investment and together we unlock their potential to create spaces Aucklanders love.
He angitūtanga: The opportunity 
Reporting to the Team Leader of Urban Design & Master Planning, you will support and sometimes lead the production of urban design and building design projects at all scales and levels. This includes design management throughout project lifecycles, design review of development proposals, urban design services utilising in-house and external production support and providing advocacy and expert advice to Panuku and its partners.
You will act as the client-side design representative on building projects (from concept design through to detailed technical documentation phases) writing formal design review advice and negotiating particular outcomes through face-to-face liaison with development teams as well as managing related projects through the Technical Advisory Group review process.

The role requires the ability to work with autonomy in a dynamic environment within multiple project teams. The projects and operating environment require a proactive approach, anticipating issues, strong communication and influencing skills, and a willingness to lead and provide direction
Skills & Experience
•    At least 5 years practical architectural/urban design experience ideally in client-side roles specifying and negotiating building design outcomes.
•    Strong track record in site layout design, specifically, housing and commercial developments and yield modelling work including the application of planning and design requirements.
•    Some experience working within both consultancy and public-sector environments is desirable.
•    Experience in the provision of specialist design advice to address built form and urban design matters.
•    Experience in successful relationship management to achieve organisational outputs.
•    Knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and frameworks within the Local Government environment.
•    Good recent knowledge of resource consents and plan change processes (or equivalent regulatory planning regimes).
