He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

It’s an exciting time for our Environmental Services department as we’ve invested in a suite of programmes ranging from pest control in parks and island ecosystem protection, to increasing community-led conservation action. With this significant investment in protecting our natural environment, we need a highly experienced specialist to provide monitoring expertise to help track our progress.

 

We are looking for a Senior Regional Advisor – Monitoring to join our Specialist Advice team and co-lead the development of best practice monitoring and reporting on biodiversity outcomes (including operational performance indicators and Council’s Long-Term Plan targets).

 

In partnership with Council’s Research Investigation and Monitoring Unit (RIMU), you will establish monitoring programmes to keep track of operational activities and outcomes for indigenous ecosystems and species.

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

You’re a subject matter expert accomplished at providing best practice ecological and/or natural environment monitoring with proven experience providing high quality project management, reporting and specialist advice. You’re experienced with information management and statistical analysis for conservation and/or biosecurity, geospatial mapping and databases and in designing and implementing ecological monitoring programmes. You have knowledge of monitoring NZ indigenous biodiversity and the principles and practices of protecting it.

 

We are looking for a team player who thrives on challenges and has excellent communication skills, dealing with people in a customer service capacity. A full driver's licence is also required.
