Auckland Council is looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Strategic Programme Office.
This is your opportunity to support the delivery of an improved way of operating to enable council’s transformation. You will contribute to the design of the organisation’s operating model through analysis, specialist advice, evaluation of options, and other technical support.
You will get satisfaction from seeing the impact that your work will have on medium and long-term organisational performance. Your efforts will have an impact on how well council’s plans, strategies and service delivery work together in guiding a future that all Aucklanders aspire to, a prosperous future with many opportunities and a better standard of living for everyone.
On any given day you could be:
- identifying opportunities and issues, and drawing connections between concepts and ideas
- synthesizing information into compelling narratives that key decision makers can action
- monitoring initiatives and creating reports for stakeholders
- developing forecasts of financial and operational performance to assist with strategy planning and scenario modelling
- reviewing and reporting on strategy, policy, and advice effectiveness
- providing strategic analysis and market intelligence on a diverse range of areas
You will enjoy the opportunity of working across council, supporting the effective delivery of areas at the forefront of Auckland’s future such as housing, water, climate change, transport, the economy, Te Ao Māori, governance, and more.
He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires demonstrated experience in similar analytical or strategic advisory roles, ideally from within large organisations, local or central government, or consultancy.
We are looking for someone who is naturally curious, inquisitive, and analytical. You enjoy working with a big picture lens and have attention to detail. You can easily draw connections between seemingly disparate ideas. As you will be expected to work across a range of issues, you would need to have expansive interests, and be able to quickly grasp unfamiliar topics. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to quickly build strong working relationships across the organisation.
Your specialist skills and experience include:
- an understanding of strategy development and implementation
- strong project management and facilitation skills
- being involved in or advising on the delivery of a business transformation and or change programme
- a robust understanding of organisational design
- clear and concise writing skills
- although not essential, experience in scenario modelling is desirable
