We are seeking a talented HR professional to join a supportive, energised and results focussed People Consulting team. This is a wonderful opportunity to join a refreshed people function serving an organisation that is highly complex, values driven and will provide you with a chance to make a real difference to the city you live, play and work in.
 

As part of the People Consulting team you will be focused on building People Leader capability through the provision of expert advice, support and coaching across the range of People (HR) functions.  You will provide support online, on-phone, and on-premise to people leaders at the Council to help develop capability, and guides managers to use the relevant people support channels (such as Āwhina and Service Line). You will also be required to escalate issues where appropriate for further advice and risk management, through the People Consulting Team Leader. 
  
You will build effective relationships through the provision of coaching and guidance on people matters and successful delivery of people initiatives,


He kōrero mōu: About you
 
To be successful in this role, you will bring prior generalist HR experience and preferably demonstrated capability in the interpretation of NZ legislation and case law. Politically savvy, you will be a team player and have exceptional relationship management skills, and familiarity working with a diverse and complex range of stakeholders. 
 
You will add significant value to your internal customers by extending their capabilities as business managers and people leaders. Your contribution to the success of the People & Performance team will ensure Auckland Council delivers excellence through our people.  This is an opportunity for you to become an influential member of a leading team of HR professionals within one of the most complex and diverse organisations in the Auckland region. 


To be successful in this role, you will bring the following:

•    Degree qualified in Human Resources / Business (or equivalent experience) and evidence of continuing professional development. 
•    5+ years proven experience as a trusted business advisor, and subject matter expert in the delivery of HR operational expertise including 2+ years of Employment Relations experience
•    Strong change, performance management, assisting PL’s with disciplinary issues and project management experience 
•    Exposure to a local government and/or unionised business environment preferred 
•    Proven experience in workforce planning and engagement strategies
