He angitūtanga: The opportunity

The Communications Department purpose is to grow Aucklanders’ pride in their city and contribute to the improvement of trust in council. This is a unique opportunity to join our communications team as a Market Research Analyst, and an excellent steppingstone in any career in research and insights. 
As Market Research Analyst you will play a key role in delivering Auckland Council’s communication strategy and its four pillars – Helping Aucklanders make the most of Auckland, Protecting the environment, Building a better Auckland, and Keeping Auckland running.

You will bring a strong audience (customer and Aucklanders) and insight perspective to the development and design of communications and marketing campaigns, help the team set SMART objectives, and design effective measures of campaign effectiveness.

The role offers both the support of senior insight professionals, and a strong degree of autonomy to design and deliver consumer research solutions that meet the Department’s needs.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You will have at least 5 years’ experience in a NZ research agency or a background that has a quantitative research focus.


With strong eye for detail, you will be able to design, manage and summarise a market research project from end to end including questionnaire design. You will have strong data analysis skills and online research skills, including questionnaire set-up and presentation experience.

Customer and consumer focussed, you will have the ability to identify key insights from a wealth of information Without doubt you’ll be able to build strong, positive relationships in a dynamic and complex environment, and you’ll be well experienced in building partnerships with peers to achieve shared outcomes. A creative problem solver and strong communicator, you’ll be solutions focussed with a natural drive to deliver exceptional results.
