Takawaenga Akoranga | Learning Facilitators (casual contract)

 

Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is a cultural leader in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our purpose is to be a creative catalyst for art and ideas, offering transformational experiences that strengthen and enrich our communities.

As a Takawaenga Akoranga | Learning Facilitator, you will deliver interactive learning experiences that embrace, share and unlock creativity, imagination, and exploration in ways that cater to a wide range of learners, from early childhood to tertiary education.


Whether delivered onsite at the Gallery or through our outreach programmes, you will collaborate with our dedicated Akoranga | Learning team to ensure every learner receives a memorable and enriching experience. You share knowledge and experiences to create deeper understanding through art, connection and aroha.

We are recruiting for a couple of dedicated individuals with varied backgrounds, specialities and lived experiences to complete the team on a casual contract basis.

We can offer flexibility on how the hours are spread over the week, which can be discussed at the interview. While most of your work will take place during regular Gallery hours, occasional evening and weekend commitments will be required to ensure the success of our programmes and events.

  • You are welcoming and personable, have a flexible and curious mindset, and are open to learning new interactive facilitation techniques and tools.
  • You are a creative individual who can facilitate creative, open-ended, hands-on workshops in the Studio. You are keen to adjust your delivery to participants' skill and learning levels.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, both internal and external, are essential.
  • You are passionate about creating inclusive learning environments where learners feel safe to share their stories and perspectives. You are energised by sharing your love and knowledge for arts and culture with new generations.
  • A graduate degree in Visual Arts, Art History or Education is required.
  • A Graduate Diploma in Teaching is desirable.

 

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

This job is Auckland Council Band F.

Appointments will be made in the range of $70,000 to $82,500 (pro rata) based on skillset and experience. ($35.66 – 39.66 per hour).
