He angitūtanga: The opportunity 

 

 Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is a cultural leader in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our purpose is to be a creative catalyst for art and ideas, offering transformational experiences that strengthen and enrich our communities.

 

The Gallery’s vision is to be the home of art for Auckland, its people, and visitors to its internationally recognised award-winning building. Established in 1888, the Gallery holds a preeminent collection of New Zealand art and a significant collection of international art and presents a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions, public engagement, and outreach activities.

 

The role of Editor reports to the Managing Editor and supports the delivery of the Gallery’s publishing programme, exhibition interpretation, and related marketing to help guide and enhance the experiences of the Gallery’s diverse audiences. 

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

To be successful in this role you will hold a bachelors or higher degree in Art History, English, Communications, or another relevant field. You will have superb attention to detail, copy-editing and proofreading experience, ideally in an art gallery or museum context, proven publishing expertise, and you will be able to work to deadlines and show flexibility.

 

You will bring excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to work on team-based projects effectively with a diverse range of people both within and outside the Gallery. You will have a passion for communicating about art and culture and an understanding of the transformative role art can play in society.
