He angitūtanga: The opportunity
 

Want to be part of the team that ensures preservation and access to the Council’s archives?

 

The Archives team is responsible for identifying council records of permanent value and ensuring they are preserved and made available for use by council staff and the public.

 

As conservator, you will provide specialist conservation and preservation services for the Archives team and undertake remediation work to support longevity and access to information. This position requires sensitivity to the value, context, and use of archives.

 

As well as conservation treatments of archives, you will construct protective archival enclosures, monitor environmental conditions, make recommendations for display and storage, and prepare condition and annual reports. Your role will make a vital contribution to the long-term preservation of and access to Auckland Council’s archives.


He kōrero mōu: About you
 

  • Tertiary qualification in conservation is essential.
  • Ideally you will possess 2 to 5 years’ proven experience of the conservation/preservation of archives.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of conservation treatments of archives.
  • Understanding of the local government sector, and records and archives legislation would be advantageous.
