He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Policy Advisor to join the Community Investment team in Auckland Council’s Policy Department.
As a seasoned policy professional, you will provide high quality policy advice to decision-makers, to ensure Aucklanders have equitable access to open space, sports and recreation and community services, while balancing affordability and value for money considerations.
You will contribute to planning for community investment over the next thirty years. As an initial assignment, you will contribute to the development of a programme business case for aquatic services as well as a needs assessment for sports and recreation services. You will be a trusted spokesperson for the community assets portfolio in council group discussions.

We will value your significant experience in developing policy. You are an excellent strategic thinker with advanced analytical and research skills, and your verbal and written communication skills are top notch.
You will work well with others and have strong coordination and project management skills. You will get satisfaction from analysis, problem solving, providing evidence-based solutions and influencing outcomes.
You will be confident working with numbers and outputs from financial models. Experience in the Better Business Case FrameworkTM is an advantage.
You will have a tertiary qualification in public policy, humanities, social sciences, law, economics or other relevant field.

Salary range: 100 – 120K (depends on experience)
