He Angitūtanga: The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Māori Cultural Capability Lead to join our dynamic Capability Team. Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau is looking for a skilled, dedicated individual to lead program design and delivery, enhancing Māori cultural competency in alignment with our organisational strategy and values.

As the Maōri Cultural Capability Lead, you will leverage your expertise to implement cross-council initiatives and support solutions that help Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau achieve its key objectives and aspirations.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of programs aimed at advancing Māori cultural capability.
• Define and implement assessment processes for Māori cultural competencies across various roles.
• Provide strategic advice to key stakeholders, including the Head of Capability and Ngā Mātārae
   (Māori Outcomes (Directorate)
• Develop and maintain a community of practice relating to Māori cultural capability.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with
    organisational goals and values.

He Kōrero Mōu | About You

As an experienced Capability Lead you will have proficiency in te reo Māori and a robust understanding of tikanga Māori, reflecting our organization's dedication to honoring te Tiriti o Waitangi. You bring a minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 5 years in a relevant leadership position, demonstrating your ability to navigate complex challenges and drive meaningful change.

 

Your strong communication and relationship-building skills enable you to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and foster a culture of inclusivity and engagement. As a strategic thinker, you have the ability to influence senior leadership and motivate others to achieve outcomes aligned with organisational goals.
 

A proven track record of success in program design, management, and delivery within large organisations, you are equipped to lead the design and delivery of initiatives that advance Māori cultural capability. A Bachelor's degree in Education, Organisation Development, or Māori Studies is preferred.
